Music:  traffic noise on Airport Road

Phew, it's humid today (just rained hard, but short). But I'm getting aclimatised to the heat here, so it's a bit more bearable now...

So I'm getting into the music scene here a bit. I have an audition-gig tonight at a bar/restaurant in Simpson Bay. I'm singing and doing rhythm guitar, and Daniel is doing lead fill-in bits. They have a complete PA system that we can use. Hopefully we can get some proper nightly slots there.

We've also been around to a few of the other restaurants and lined up some potential stuff, but it will help once we suss out a microphone.

On Saturday night I got behind a nice drum kit (running through a PA) for at least 3 hours, playing at the Lagoonies management changeover party. A lotta people had no idea I played the drums as well, and were duly impressed by my 3-minute drum solo. Lots of pats on the back and beers.

I almost had a house on Simpson Bay Beach lined up to live in for free for a month, but that fell through at the last minute, as everything seems to do for me on this island. So I have to find a place to sleep tonight and from now on. A few leads, but nothing confirmed yet. It's a pain in the ass and a little stressful, but it shall be overcome, oh yes it shall.

Okay so if any of you want to post me anything, my postal address for the time-being is:

Chris Sutherland
C/- J.P. Guilbert (Pizza Galley)
The Mailbox
Airport Road, Simpson Bay
Sint Maarten
Netherland Antilles

I also think I'm gonna have to front up with the US$60 to get a GSM SIM card and get my cellphone connected.

Oh, and I've finally organised for my new VISA card to be sent from NZ. 10 working days... eeek.

Next Saturday we're organising our 4th beach party on Mullet Beach.

So now all I have to do is find a piece of real-estate to sleep on tonight - the search continues...
