Just watched The Fast and the Furious on DVD. Lame. Even the cars were lame. (Oh yeah, bought a DVD player the other day. Connected it through the stereo and it's all good).
So on Sunday night I took the ferry to St Barts (the lifestyles-of-the-rich-and-famous French island of St Bartholemew, 25km from St Maarten) with Charles. We went to a super trendy, crazy-expensive lounge/restaurant ("Nikki Beach") and partied with more famous people than I actually recognised. P. Diddy (aka. 'Puff Daddy') bought me and our group of friends a round of drinks, and we were dancing with him, Mary J. Blige, Naomi Campbell, and friends all night. (explanation for the Grandparents: they are musicians and models). I couldn't care less for any of these people, but it was still a novelty. Three drinks cost €53 (~US$66!!). Crazy. Luckily the only money I personally had to spend was the $20 tip I gave the driver who took us to the club, for returning a few hours later with my camera that I'd left in his car! I was freaking out for a while there. (note to self: be more careful)
Went to a few after-parties around the island, stayed up until 7am on somebody's boat (all the megayachts are in St Barts right now, for New Years), then left for St Maarten again on the ferry. Started work that morning, then played a gig at Sunset Beach Bar at 6pm. Running only on willpower in the end, but it all made for a great weekend.
So tomorrow is New Year's Eve. What to do, what to do. At this stage I'm considering just sitting on Maho beach with some champagne and the guitar and watching the fireworks in the bay. But who knows. I find that it's all usually a big anti-climax anyway. We shall see.
Must sleep now. Have a great New Years everybody, whatever you do.
