Wow, busy busy busy. Diving every day, and playing music almost every night.
The high season has finally kicked into gear here, which means that there's cruise ships in every day, and a lotta people on the island. The lagoon is filling up fast with megayachts, and my musical career is taking off.
Les and I now play 3 nights a week at Mezzanotte Restaurant (used to be the News Cafe, beside the Boathouse, for you ex-Sint Maarteners) which is a good gig and makes us good money and a free (very fancy) meal every night. We also have a regular Monday night spot at Sunset Beach Bar (again, paid well, with free food and beverage). We've organised a PA system for that too, so we're nice n loud, and seem to be really appreciated. We've been asked to play at several different places on the island, and it's a matter of trying to fit it all in. I get up at 6:30am, home from work at about 5:30pm, then walk out the door again at 5:50pm to play music until maybe 10pm. It's killing me, but in a good way!
The other day we played on Aussie Rules, a huge, new and extra equipped luxury megayacht owned by pro Aussie golfer Greg Norman. That went down well.
We've also been asked to be "background music" at a millionaires house over in a fancy area coming up some time soon. Wonder what that could lead to.
I've purchased a Djembe drum (big-assed bongo) which really compliments our acoustic set.
Oh shit, time's up! |
